Professional Development: Making Digital Waves

Can the United States harness renewable energy from ocean waves? Can it be done efficiently, and if so, how will target audiences such as energy experts and technology-savvy investors know? 

In this session, digital strategist Dino Baskovic will discuss the planning, preparation and execution of all online promotional vehicles for the Wave Energy Prize, a public-prize challenge sponsored by the U.S. Energy Department. The presentation will showcase specific web, social media and email-marketing examples, as well as technology lessons learned a year into the prize-selection process. Dino will also explain the rationale and process for developing a “holistic digital ecosystem” that integrates with traditional PR and marketing channels, and how that all relates to amassing participation in, support for, and investment in public- and private-sector prize challenge initiatives.

Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dino Baskovic has previously consulted for U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services programs. A long-time PR practitioner, he has provided digital strategy and support for General Motors, Bank of America and Zurich North America, as well as marcom agencies and non-profit groups. Additionally, Dino serves as an adjunct professor for Grand Valley State University’s School of Communications in Allendale, Mich., where he currently teaches “Technology in Public Relations and Advertising.”
